In explanation of tho first clause, the Chairman stated that the candidates first named were not in a position to accept tho scholarships, being already engaged as pupil teachers. It was also stated that the successful candidates gained marks as follows :—Glanville, 296 i ; Foster, 227 i ; Messrs. Ellis and Cuff gained respectively 221 and 218 - The first resolution was, on tho motion of tho Bov. Ohas. Fraser, carried unanimously. Some discussion arose in reference to clause 3 of the report, for and against ; an objection to the recommendation being that it should have been general in its application, instead of particular to one institution. The Chairman explained that the committee bad made the recommendation to meet what they recognised to be the necessities of the case, and in order to prevent candidates entering who did not intend to go through with the terms. It was pointed out that undue advantage of the institution had been taken on two occasions.

After some further discussion on the principle involved. The resolution was carried on a division by 5 to 3.

Tho remaining clause of the report was adopted without discussion. The Museum committee reported as follows ; “ The committee recommend the Board to accept the tender of A. Swanson for making cases and fittings for the new technological room at the Museum.” Resolved—“ That the Museum committee be authorised to accept the tender of A, Swanson at the prices submitted.” The estates committee submitted a report, which was approved. A question concerning the library, and bearing on ways and means, was postponed. After disposing of a small matter of routine in committee, tbo Board adjourned.
