The former witness said that the smell at present certainly was as eau-de-cologne is to ditchwater compared to what was formerly experienced ; but Mr Sheath and Mr Waller said it was still very bad indeed. Defendant stated that the stuff he had carted there had been some of the debris from Edwards and Bennett's fire, and tho smell arose from nothing but burnt sugar and foul gas. He had put lime on it, and was carting it away as fast as he could, when interrupted by tho rain. Tho Bench said they would give him another week to clean up, and adjourned the case for that period.
