TYPHOID FEVER.

To the Edittr of the Globe, Sib, —Tho public mind is considerably exercised at the present time about typhoid fever and the scavenging of the city. The former may be left to exports, but as a large ratepayer, I want to know why tho City Council interfered with a man who was competent to carry out hia work, and who has given general satisfaction, for tho purpose of saving a few paltry pounds, or, as it is said, ono farthing a pan per week. There must be some wire-pulling or power behind the Council that does not appear to the uninitiated. I trust when tho Council next meet, some independent members will lay bare all the facts of the case in open Council. The ratepayers have a right to know the why and tho wherefore, and as ono I protest against the continual going into committee when any subject of public importance has to be discussed. By the way, the Council has no power to exclude the public or the press at any lime, whether in committee or not. Yours, &3,, PUBLICOLO
