[per press association ] AUCKLAND, June 30. Found Dead. George Wallen, aged eighteen, was found dead in a drain near where he had been working at Manurewa yesterday. He was subject to epileptic fits. Ecclesiastical. The new St. Sepulchre’s Episcopalian Church, Kybur Pass road, was opened and consecrated yesterday by Bishop Oowie. The building is capable of seating 700 people. It has a steeple 130 ft high, WELLINGTON, June 30. 3 The Invalid Lighthouse Keeper. The Stella has returned from the Brothers’ Lighthouse with a man named Davis, who is suffering from a sprained knee. The Licensing Bill A meeting of delegates of the Licensing Association was held this morning, representatives from Auckland, Napier, Otago, Southland, and Wellington being present. It was decided that upon the re-committal of the Licensing Bill to endeavor to have the following clauses amended : —26th, relating to beneficial interest; 126-h, re barmaids, asking that ten hours bo the limit. In reference to the fees, it was resolved to suggest that they bo reduced £lO, or that the £SO cover the fee for an extra bar. It was also decided to endeavor to have a clause relating to Sunday hours inserted. A deputation of the Wellington Licensed Victuallers waited on the city members tiday, urging them to endeavor to have the Licensing Bill thrown out. Mr Hutclism and Mr Levin replied, that while they agreed that several amendments were necessary, the Bill was a right one in principle, and if thrown out would bo prejudicial to the interest of the public. DUNEDIN, Juno 35. Otago Educational InstituteThe office bearers of the Otago Educational Institute have been instructed to take measures to make it a colonial institution.
