Then old Duzenberry said—“My beloved wife, the request I have to make of you is, that when I am planted (hero the poor woman sobbed) — when I am in the cold, cold grave—(sho tore her hair) —when I am the food of worms—(she roared with grief)—when 1 am no longer aught but dust.” (Oh, what am Ito do ?”) “I command you not to marry Jones, my bookkeeper.” ‘‘Your wish shall be obeyed, for 1 am already engaged to Smith, your cashier.
