Communications having been made to the British Government by the Boers who remained loyal during the recent war asking for some compensation in consequence of the withdrawal of British rule from the Transvaal, the Eight Hon. W. E. Gladstone has addressed a letter in reply in which he states that the Government do not consider that the petitioners are entitled to an indemnification under the circumstances named. CONSTANTINOPLE, June 23. Bulgarian Atrocities. Telegrams are to hand to-day reporting that three Liberal deputies of the Bulgarian National Assembly have been murdered at Sofia. Much disorder and agitation continues to prevail in the Principality. ROME, June 23. Political Jealousy. Great "excitement prevails throughout the country in consequence of the riots which occured at Marseilles on the 17th and' 18th instants, and the numerous arrests of Italian subjects that have since been made by order of the French Government. Anti-French meetings are being held in several Italian towns to express indignation with the action of the French.
