Hawkins, a miserable , looking object, was fined 20s, or forty-eight hours’ imprisonment, for being drunk and : disorderly. Wife Desbbtion.—Arthur Eiohard Eva, brought up on warrrnt issued in Wellington, was remanded to that place to appear as early as possible. His own recognizano was accepted in £IOO, and ho was ordered to report himself to the police morning and evening until leaving by steamer. Vaqbancx.—Fred. Oldman, just out of gaol for the same offence, was brought up charged with having no lawful visible means of support. Accused, who appeared to be on idiot, was stated to have been wandering about bogging, and sleeping under hedges in Lincoln road. The police further said that he had been in the Lunatic Asylum once or twice, and was subject to epileptic fils. He was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labor, and to undergo medical examination. Burodaby. Charles Henry Preston, charged with breaking into the premises of G. Hooper, and stealing therefrom jewellery to the value of £522, was further remanded for eight days, to be brought up sooner if the police were ready to proceed. The police stated that the delay had been caused by the absconding of a principal witness, who, however, had been arrested the night previous. Mr Loughrey, for defendant, applied for a reduction of the present bail, but the Bench declined to interfere.
