The tone of the sale was again very firm. Twelve thousand bales have been withdrawn from auction since the commencement of the series. The Bulgarian Difficulties. A memorial, signed by the leading Liberals of Bulgaria, has been addressed to Mr Gladstone, on the subject of the relations between Prince Alexander and his Parliament. The memorialists characterise the Prince’s action as despotic, and appeal to Mr Gladstone to use his influence with the Government to induce a settlement of the Bulgarian difficulties.
