DRUIDICAL ENTERTAINMENT.
A highly-successful entertainment, in aid of tho regalia fund of tbe Anchor Lodge, U.A.0.D., took place in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Woolaton, on Thureday evening. The programme opened with a very effective Druidical tableau and tho “ Welcome Oboruo,” the eolos being beautifully rendered by Messrs Parker and Harrington. Tho chief item in the programme was the following ode on Benevolence, from the pen of Mr J. Ludford, spoken by Mr Nathan, A.D. of the Lodge: As beams the silvery orb of night With soft and tender ray, Illuming earth until the dawn Proclaims another day; So shines Benevolence, the light That guides our hearts and hands aright. In Briton’s sylvan groves of yore Its beaming presence came, And filled with pure and holy fire The founders of oar name; So may its glow resplendent be, And shine through all eternity. For ’tis the Druid’s Star of Hope, Fis altar and his pride, And stands a beacon on his path— His watchword and bis guide. Which leads him to the greater good. And seals the sacred Brotherhood. At the conclusion of the concert a very enjoyable ball took place, and dancing was indulged in by those present to an early hour.
