ENGLISH MARKETS.

The following is Messrs Miles Bros, and Co.*B colonial produce report, dated London April 21st WOOL. There has been no alteration in the shite of our wool market since our last report, with the exception of a few enquiries from tho Continent, but the prices offered show no alteration from those of our lata sales. In our woollen districts there is at present only a hand to month business doing. Political have lately been eo uncertain that confidence in tho future is very slowly manifesting itself in all brunches of trade. Still we may look upon business, however much curtailed, to he on a sound basis. The Antwerp auctions of River Plato wools opened yesterday, bnt rates were slightly weaker than at their former sales in January, and out of 2000 bales offered only 400 bales were sold. The fresh arrivals for May and Jnne comprise Bales. New South Wales and Queensland ... ... ... ... 70,882 Victoria 92,519 South Australia 41,476 Western Australia ... ... 9,998 Tasmania 6,767 New Zealand ... ... ... 65,099 Cape 39,677 Total 327.223 And say 30,000 bales old stock. WHEAT AND FLOTTR. Our corn market has been dull, the Easter holidays having considerably interfered with business, but, nevertheless, prices hardened to some extent, in consequence of foreign supplies being kopt off the market by adverse winds, and our millers were obliged to purchase sparingly from stocks of home grown produce. With a change of wind, however, the fleet wheatladen vessels is now arriving, and prices are again easier. The visible supply in the United States is 20,600,000 bushels, against 23,800,000 bushels this time last year, while the quantity afloat from all sources is estimated at 3,500,000 qrs wheat, against 2,192,000 qrs in April, 1880 ; but it is satisfactory to find that is drawing considerable supplies from America. Cargoes of Californian No, 1 standard wheat are offered at 45s 6d per 5001 b for prompt shipment to.U.K., and 47 for February b 1-, iren vessels. In Australian wheat the Annie Mann, with 3334 qrs from Port Pirio, was sold about the middle of tho month for Rouen, while on the spot stocks have been replenished by recent arrivals ; the value being 50s 6d exTship, and 51s ex quay, average quality. Stocks of N.Z. wheat here are extremely low, while cargoes afloat have been offered at 45s by wooden ship and 45s 3d iron, bnt no business appears to have been done. We quote, ex granary, Australian wheat, 50s 6d to 51a per 4961b5,; Now Zealand, long berried, 48s to Sts ; good ordinary, ‘46a to 50s; and inferior, 42s to 45a. Australian flour, superfine, 32a 6d to 34s 6d per 2801b5.; households, 30a to 32s ; Now Zealand do., 30s to 335; New Zealand barley (malting), 30s to 38s per44Slbs.; New Zealand beans, 45s to 47s per 4481b5.; New Zealand oats, fine, 26s to 30s ; and common feed, 23s to 265, both per imperial quarter; New Zealand peas, 46s to 48s ; Australian peas, 34s to 375, both per SOllba.; New Zealand oatmeal, 190 s to 210 s per ton. TALLOW AND HIDES. Thera has been a good demand for Australian tallow, but prices are without alteration, viz., 36s to 36s 6<i for mutton, and 33s Cd to _34s for beef, good to fine quality. Hides are quiet, but prices remain the same. Bank rate, 3 per cent. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following telegram dated London, Jnne Ist Wool. Competition is increasing, and quotations are on average id to Id better than at the opening, except combing, washed, scoured, fine greasy crossbred, fine washed crossbred, and fine scoured crossbred, market for which is unchanged. Up to date 166,000 bales have been sold, 95,000 bales have been taken for export.
