Mails close at tho Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary altera- ' tions) as under : j SATURDAY, MAT 21. : For United Kingdom (via San Francisco), Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c, per Taiaroa, as follows — •Jrdinary letters at 6.H0 p.m.; late fee letters, at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6 30 p.m.; money orders at 3 p.m.; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard's van, 8.30 p.m. train. MONDA.2", MAY 23 For Northern ports, per Grafton, tit 1.40 p.Ki.; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard's van, 2.30 p.m. train. WEDNESDAY, MAY 25. For the United Kingdom, via Brindisi (specially addressed correspondence only), Continent of Europe, Point de Galle, India, China, Japan, the East, Aden, Mauritius, Natal, Cape ot Good Hope, Suez, tho Mediterranean Ports, Australian Colonics, &c, per express train (to connect with s.s. Botorna), as follows Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m. ; books and newspapers nt 6 a.m ; registered letters, at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 23rd ; money orders, at 4 p.m. on Monday, May 23rd. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Poßt-office van attached to tho express train on Wednesday, May 23th. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 1.40 p.m.; late foe letters at 2 p.m.; guard's van, 230 p.m. train. Note.—Taeeday, 24th inst (Queen's Birthday) being a post-office holiday, all branches of the Pobt-office will be closed. The office will be open in the evening of Monday, 23rd inst., from a quarter to nine to ha'fpaat nine o'clock, for delivery of letters usually taken out by letter carriers.
