[beutee’s telegrams.] CONSTANTINOPLE, May 17. The Sultan’s Murder. An inqniry has been held into the confession of four domestics, of the Teheran Palace, to the effect that they were concerned in the murder of Saltan Abdnl Aziz, in 1876. The evidence adduced has led to an accusation against Midhat Pasha (who was Grand Vizier at the time of the Sultan’s death) of complicity in the crime. An Imperial decree has accordingly boon issued, deposing Midhat Pasha from the position he occupies as Governor of Smyrna, and ordering his immediate arrest. News has, however, since been received from Smyrna to the effect that Midhat Pasha has fled from that city. Later intelligence has been received by the Government from Smyrna that Midhat Pasha has not, as at first stated, fled from the city, but has taken refuge in the French consulate, and has appealed to the French and other foreign consuls for protection from arrest by the Turkish authorities.
