Wednesday, May 18. (Before J. P. Jameson and F. J. Kimbell, V Eaqs., J.P.’s). LabCENY. —Mary Ann White, on remand from tho 16th, for larceny of a blanket valued at 10s, tho property of Leah Davies, and also for the larceny of a petticoat and underlinen, the property of Sarah Jane Sargent, valued at 20s, was again brought up, Leah Davies deposed that on Sunday night last, about twelve o’clock, the prisoner was seen leaving tho premises of prosecutrix. Prisoner had the blanket (produced) in her possession, which witness had previously seen in tho bath room, and which was her property. Other articles I belonging to her cook hod also been lost recently. David Davies, jun,, corroborated tr e former
evidence, and deposed to following prisoner, who threw the blanket in a hedge. Prisoner denied stealing the blanket; when the last witness stopped her, ehe had no more on her than she stood in. The second charge was then heard. Sarah Jane Sargent deposed that both articles of apparel (producedj were her property, and were removed from a clothes-lme on her promises on Saturday night. They were marked with her name, and worth 20s. Sergeant Wilson deposed to the prisoner being arrested on the above charges, and, when at the look-up, eho was found wearing tho clothing produced ; she then made certain statements which had boon found untrue. In reply to tho Bench, prisoner said she bought tho clothes and pud for them. Convicted on both charges, and sentenced to imprisonment for two periods of three months each, to run concurrently. Be committal —A lad named Timothy Hurlihon, who was committed to tho Industrial School, at Burnham, in 1876, wac recommitted until ho shall have attained tho age of fifteen years.
