Mails close at the Chief Post Office for tho following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under: — WEDNESDAY, MAY 18. For Australian Colonies (except Now South Wales and Queensland) per express (to connect with s.s. Rotomahana), at 7 a.m.; late fee letters may be posted in tho travelling post office van attached to the express train. For Westport, per Beautiful Star, at 11.15 a.m.; late fee letters, at 11.30 a.m.; guard’svan, 12 noon train. For Northern Ports and Australian Co’onies, per Wakatipu, at 3.20 p.m. ; late fee letters at 3.30 p.m. ; guard’s van, 4 p.m. train. THURSDAY, MAY 10. For Chatham Islands, per Island Lily, at 9.30 a.m.; late fee letters, at 9.40 a.m.; guard’s van, 10.10 a.m. train. For Fiji Islands, to connect with s.s. Southern Cross at Auckland. SATURDAY, MAY 21. For United Kingdom (via San Francisco), Continents of Europe and America, West Indies, Sandwich Islands, Northern Ports of New Zealand, &c., per AVanaka, as follows: Ordinary letters at 6.30 p.m.; late fee letters at 7 p.m. ; books and newspapers, at 6.30 p.m.; money orders at 3 p.m. ; registered letters, at 5 p.m.; guard’s v an , 8.30 p.m. train, SYDNEY J. DICK, Chief Postmaster.
