HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

The above Board met on Friday at 10 a.m. Present—Messrs F. Jones (chairman), W. Atwood and Geo. Dryden. Mr Dryden apologised for Mr O'Neill's absence. The clerk reported the reoeipts to be £147 ss. Re gas lamps—The sites were determined on, and the clerk instructed to get them erected as soon as they came to hand. The following persons interviewed the Board—Mr E. J. T. Ford, re bridges over Heathcote, offering guarantee for the amount to be paid for the bridge opposite Morgan's. The guarantee being satisfactory, was accepted, and the clerk was instructed to give Messrs Anderson notice re their contract. Messrs J. E. Brown and Pratt, re taking tramway to Snmner. It was resolved that the Tramway Oompany be informed that this Board are willing for them to run from Swing bridge to Sumner township, on condition that satisfactory arrangements can be made as to the position for laying the rails. Re Waimakariri rates—The clerk was instructed to give the necessary notices to levy a rate in accordance with the resolution of Waimakariri conservators. The foreman was instructed to cut the willows along the Avon river. The clerk was instructed to call for tenders for metal for Colombo road. The following correspondence was read and dealt with—Marine Department—Returning plans of Heathoote swing bridges ; approved of. The clerk was instructed to give the bridge committee notice that the balance for Cemetery road bridge must be either paid in to the Beard, or a satisfactory guarantee given, on or before the 27th inst. Mr J. H. Hopkins, re drainage rates. It was decided to call a meeting of ratepayers in the Phillipstown schoolroom on Friday, the 20th inst., at 7.30 p.m. Mr T. Cane, re road by his house. The clerk to reply. Messrs J. T. Harley and others, re footpath on Opawa road. It was decided to make a footpath from the parsonage to Ensor's road. Messrs Nioholls and others re road on Sandhills. To be done if cost not too much. Mr E. Denham, re road by Wright's. To be done, with eight yards of metal to the chain. Messrs Bedpath and Jamieson, re road on R.S. 175. The footpath to have screenings put on. Messrs Maguire and Parker, re state of Drain road. To be informed that the Board will attend to it as soon at the Drainage Board hand over the road. Mr R. Fenton, re road by his hotel. The foreman to report as to cost by next Board day. Mr C. Comer, clerk to Halswell Road Board, re Dyer's Pass road. The clerk to reply. The clerk was instructed to advertise for clerk of works for Heathoote swing bridges. After passing accounts for £134 10s 5d the Board adjourned.
