Hodder goods valued at £7, was remanded to Ashburton, where the offence is alleged to have been committed. Labobny.—Mary Ann White, brought up for stealing a blanket from A. L. Davies, valued at 10s, was, on application of the police, remanded for three days. Bbkaok op Poliob Obdinancb.—A. B. Hardecke, licensee of the Golden Meece Hotel, admitted having Bold liquor after hours to persons others than travellers, on May 7th last. He was fined £5, and costs 2s. TJNCqNTROLLABi,B Ohiijj.—Arthur Freeman, a boy nine years old (his second appearance in Court on the above charge), was oharged by his mother with being beyond her I control. She stated that he frequently stopped out all night, and would not go to school. The Rev. A. K. Lingard spoke as to the bad behaviour of the boy, and to the efforts his mother had made to keep him respectable. The boy was ordered to be sent to the Industrial School, at Burnham, for six years, to be brought up in the tenets of the Ohcrch of England. Bbbaoheb op thb Slaughtbb-hottsb Act. —John Ezra Ingle appeared charged with having allowed his slaughter-house at Shirley, or appurtenances thereof, to remain in a filthy state, contrary to the provisions of a by-law of the County Council of Selwyn, made in that behalf. Mr Joynt appeared for the prosecution. The Inspector of the County appointed under the Aot deposed that certain piggeries belonging to defendant were, on the date of the information, two or three inches deep in liquid mud and the putrid ramoica of sheep's heads, &o. Defendant pleaded guilty, and was fined 10s. Jos. Sherlock was oharged with neglecting for four months to furnish returns of the number of animals slaughtered on his premises, as required by the Act. Mr Joynt appeared for the prosecution. The offence was admitted, and defendant was fined 20s and costs. Maxicioub Injuby to Pbopbbty.—Alf. Walter Wright was oharged with pulling down and damaging certain parts of a house and garden, the property of Wm. Wilsou, of which defendant was tenant. Mr Cowlishaw appeared for prosecutor. Defendant applied for an adjournment, as he had only just received the summons. Mr Cowlishaw did not object, provided substantial bail were exacted, as the offence was a felony and an aggravated case. Defendant objected to being obliged to find bail, as he had no object I in trying to evade enquiry. After some discussion, the cuse was adjourned till Wednesday next. ... Hannan, for a similar offence, was fined 10s. James Spensley, for allowing four horses to wander, was fined ss, and costs 2s. A. G. Tanner, for keeping an unregistered dog, was fined 10a. O. O'Malley, Alex. Hierman, John Flynn, John Hopning and Henry Trenbath were fined each 5s and costs, for allowing cattle to wander. Bobert Wallace, for an unprovoked assault on Thomas Carter, was fined £2, and ordered to pay solicitor's fee £1 Is, with coats.
