AUTHORISED SURVEYORS.
A meeting of authorised surveyors was held at the Commercial Hotel on Thursday oven- I ing last; Mr B. Dobson presided. Mr J. W. I Davis, hon. sec., read voluminous correspon- 1 dence, also a copy of the proposed Bill to be submitted to Parliament. The Bill was considered in detail, and several clauses amended. I It was decided that the only qualification for membership recognisable should be “ holding a certificate as an authorised surveyor for the colony of New Zealand, or such similar certificates from the other colonies as the council may deem sufficient.” The hon, sec. was directed to forward the Bill to Mr E. H. Beere, secretary of the proposed N.Z. institute of Surveyors, Wellington, to explain the reasons for the alterations. The meeting then ended with the customary vote of thanks to the chair.
