Arrived Ships Piako, from Port Chalmers; City of Lahore, from Lyttelton ; Alexa, from Napier; City of Tanjore, from Lyttelton ; Ardentinney, from Oamaru ; Glenlora, from Napier. May 8. Tunisian. Telegrams have been received from the headquarters of the French army in Tunis stating that the force is slowly advancing towards the capital. The Porte and the Bey have issued a farther protest to the Powers against the action of tho French Government in sending an expedition to Tunis. Trouble in IrelandNows has been received that several riets have occurred in Ireland over the service of writs for tho eviction of tenants. The collisions between the police and the people have been of a serious character. CAPETOWN, May 7, Hew Ministry. On the retirement of tho Hon. J. Gordon Sprigg and his colleagues, Mr Scanlan was sent for, and has since formed a new Ministry.
