EYRETON ROAD BOARD.
The monthly meeting was held on Monday, May 2nd. Present—Messrs Wilson (chairman), Elder, Guild, Hopkins and Pashby. Letters were read—From tho Under-Secre-tary for Public Works, enclosing a return of receipts and expenditure to 31st of March to be furnished to the Government in accordance with section 13 of the Publio Works Act, 1876. From Mr George Patterson asking for repairs to be doro on Patterson's road, which was rcforred to the surveyor. From Bangiora Boad Board requesting this Board to have the culvert across Thompson's road at the Flaxton bridge lengthened. Tho surveyor was ordered to have the work done. Mr Robert Thompson requostod the Board to fenoo round the cottage on tho cemetery road. Resolved —"That on condition of Mr Thompson agreeing to erect a fence aaross the road at oaoh end, and provided he will provide slip psnnels, and rent the cottage for a term of one year, the rent would bo reduced from 8s to 6s per week, payable weekly in advanoe.'* Mr Frederick Denton requested the Board to to form the road leading from the South Eyre road through reserves No. 1547 and 1548 to the junction of Haast road." Resolved—" That the request be considered next- Board meeting." The surveyor was directed to see if notice had been given to terminate the lease of reserves Nos. 1547 and 1548, in accordance with the instructions of the Board sent to the Commissioner of Crown Lands on December 7th, 1880. Resolved—" That tho railway engineer's attention be drawn to the foul state of tho drain along the Eyreton hue from Wilson's siding to the Ohoka station, and request that instructions should be given to have the same cleaned out." Resolved—- " That notice be given to the poundkeeper that unless the pound foes due, amounting to £l4 17s, be paid within fourteen days, legal proceedings will be taken to recover the same." Resolved—" That the surveyor be authorised to procure a new form of pound book and make fr&sb. arrangements for a poundkeeper." Mr Isaac Wilson stated that he was willing to pay to the Board the cost of keeping the drain clean along Radden's road, provided the water was not allowed to be diverted out of its present course. Resolved —" That the road from the girder bridge to the railway bridge across the north branch of the Waimakariri be formed." The clerk wa» directed to obtain six copies of any Act or amended Act referring to Road Board matters. Resolved—" That the members meet at tho nouth cud of the No. 10 road at 10 a.m. on Friday next, to inspect the work proposed to be done by Mr Dent; also to see what damage the river is doing above Eyreton." The following tenders were then considered, for Mill road oulvert, Jaokson's ro«d culvert, shingling Pearson's road, clearing scrub on the North road, pipe drain at pound, and one accepted in each case, with the exception of clearing scrub. Acoounts amounting to £146 15s lOd were passed and ordered to bo paid.
