[betjtbb's telegrams.] MELBOURNE, May 3. Reform Still hangs Fire. Both Houses of Parliament re-assembled to-day after the recess. In the Legislative Council Sir Charles Sladen made a statement regarding the Reform Bill. He stated that he had no objection to the same being considered on its second reading, but he considered it useless to discuss the measure further, as he was convinced that no agreement would be arrived at with the Assembly. Dr. Hector. Dr. Hector, Executive Commissioner for New Zealand at the late International Exhibition, has left for Sydney, and will leave that port for Wellington in the Wakatipu. Before his departure, Dr. Hector completed arrangements for packing and forwarding the exhibits in the New Zealand Court. Among the awards made to New Zealand exhibitors, A. and T. Burt, Dunedin, secured six first orders of merit, including a gold medal. The Mosgiel Woollen Factory Company was also awarded a gold medal. The following exhibitors also take first orders of merit:—Wrigglesworth and Binns, Wellington, photographs; Dr. Hector and Dr. W. L. Buller, Wellington, publications ; Brunner Coal Company, fireclay goods; E. Mitchelson, Dargaville, kauri gum; T. P. Tilby, Auckland, arrowroot; Peter McGill, Tokomairiro, groats. Suez Mail. Arrived —P. and O. Company's steamship Khedive, with the inward Suez mail, dated London, March 24th.
