[better’s telegrams.] MELBOURNE, April 29. UnearthedThe owner of the steamer India alias Ferret, has been arrested. Sugar. Mauritius advices to the 19th inst. report that 275 tons of sugar were loading for Lyttelton. The tone of the market is unchanged. The crops are being improved by seasonable weather. SYDNEY, April 29. Bank of N-S.W. The ordinary half-yearly meeting of shareholders of the Bank of New South Wales was held here to-day to receive the report of the directors for half-year ended 31st March. The balance-sheet showed that the profits for the half-year amounted to £93,066, to which has to bo added the balance carried forward from the previous half-year, £2523, giving the total available for division £95,589. The following appropriations were recommended —To payment of a dividend at the rate of 15 per cent, per annum, £75,000; bonus at the rate of 2\ per cent, per annum, £12,500; carried to reserve fund £SOOO, leaving a balance to be carried forward of £3089. The report was unanimously adopted by the meeting. Prices.
