The Orta toms duties collected at Christchurch on Wednesday, April 19th, were as follows : Spirits, £376 13s 9d; tobacco, .£245 14i ; cigars, £lB 16s lid; wine, £l6 12a; beer, £l2 10s; sugar, £24 5a Vd ; tea, £l4 6a 8d; ad valorem, £l6 11a. Total, £735 9b lid. Business in the import market during the Easter week haa been pretty well suspended, and only a moderate inquiry haa transpired during the few days that have passed since the holidays. Goods ex vessels now discharging have been coming to hand with unusual despatch, and if -the same promptitude was shown at other times it would be acceptable, rales of bluestono have been made at 31s to 32s for spot lots. Kerosene has boon moving at Is 9d to Is lOd for low test, and 2s to 2s Id for high test. Galvanised iron haa been placed at £25 for invoice lines, and broken parcels at £26 10s to £27, according to brand. With the approach of a new month, and the beginning of the demand, we may look for an improved tone. GRAIN AND PRODUCE. The holiday nature of the past week has prevented any business of moment being carried through, and beyond confirming last week’s quotations there is nothing calling for speciol notice. LAND SALES.
