UNION BOWING CLUB.
The close of the boating season of 1880 81 took the form of an inaugural annual dinner by the club on Wednesday night at the Star and Garter Hotel, Oxford turraoe. The hall used by the TJ.A.O.D. was utilised for the occasion, Bad fittingly decorated with sculls and oars grouped around the walls. The dinner was served in Captain Kiddey'a best style, and gave general satisfaction. The cloth being cleared, tho secretary read letters of apology from Messrs John And onion, George Gould, J. O. Jones, and L. M. Ollivier, and stated that Mr Hennah regretted that ill-health precluded his being out after dark. The prizes gained by the inembors of the club during the past yoar were then presented, as under:— Mr Hennah'a prize of a pair of gold scarf rings for Club pairs, to Messrs O. .Rogers and O. Stringer. Mr 0. lizard's prize of a handsome greenstone pendant, for tho Handicap Sculling Eace, to Mr J. W. Shead. The Club's prizo for Junior Fours—Four ailver cupß, to Mossrs Fuller, Gilmour, Ward and Thompson. The Committeo's prizes for Junior Pairs— Two silver raedala, Messrs Fuller and Woledge. Mr Toovoy's prizo for Club's Double Sculls —A pair of hundsomo cup<i, to Messrs S. 0. Kestovon and F. Fuller, Mr G. T. White's prize for Junior Double Sculls —Two gold medals, to Mcsors F. Fuller and J. Thompson. Mr H. Thompson's prizo (four silver cups) for Club's fours was withheld, owing to the absence of Mr Thompson through indisposition. The prizes won at tho 'late Heathcote and Eaiapoi Regattas were then dealt with, as under : Stsnior Double Sculls, value .£lO—S. C. Kostovon, silver cruet stand; C. Kogera, gold Maltese cross. Junior Double Sculla ; Club's prize, valuo £B F. Faller and Gilmour, two gold medals.

Sweepstakes Fours No. 2—Threo silver medals and gold pencil case. Messra Styche, Thompson, Ward, and Johnston. . Junior Doable Scnlls, value .£3 (Kaiapoi Begatta)—F. Fuller and J. Gilmour. Coxswains' Prizes—Three _ silver medals for each of the winning? coxswains at the Heathoote Begatta. Messrs Styche (two) and J. Dunnage. _ _ Club's prize for best attendance—F. Dunnage, silver medal. Club's prize for beat steering, H. A. Styche, silver medal. The following toasts were duly given and honored:—" The Queen," "Mr G. Gonld (President of the Club)," "Messrs H. H. Hennah and J. Anderson (Vice-presidents), "H. Thomson (Commodore)," "S. O. Kesteven (Vice-Commodore)," "The Managing Committee," "The Secretary," "TheLadies,' "The Press," "The Custodian," "The Host and Hostess," "Boating Interests," " 0.8. C., &o. Several songs were sung at intervals, and the company separated at a late hour, aftor a most enjoyable evening.
