A splendid _ day for racing, and just enough sun to make it pleasant, was the second day of the antnmn gathering of the C. J.C. The attendance was fairly numerous, though not so large as on the previous day. Messrs Hobbs and Oooawin had their totalisator in the paddock, and did a fairly go id business. The first rate was the Autumn Nursery, for which nine youngsters came to the post. Of these the Tattendon colt and the CassiTclaunua —Envy filly divided the honors in the betting. The winner, however, turned np in Mr Fraser’s filly Hinemoa. The Autumn Nubseet Handicap, a sweepstakes of 5 Bovs each, with XUO sovs added, for two-year-olds. Five furlongs. Mr G. The Tattendon Colt ent out the running, with Amulet, Nonpareil, Hinemoa and La .Mode in the order named. Gold Dust, Nonpareil, legerdemain and the Dauphin forming the rear division. In this order they ran until the turn into the straight, where Amulet came out of the cluster, passing the Tattendon Colt, and took the lead, Hinemoa second, and the Tattendon Colt falling back third. The latter was being ridden at the rails, bnt was unable to get on terms with Hinemoa and Amulet. A fine race ensued between these two, ultimately resulting in a win for Mr Fraser’s filly by a short length, a length and a half between second and th ! rd. Time, Imin. Ssecs. There were 163 shares in the totalisator, of which seven were on the winner. For the Easter Handicap, Lil slier, Luna, and the Joker were absontc js. Lady Emma and the Governor were made piime favoritss, though Band wick had a number of followers. The backers of Lady Emma, after her performance in the Groat Antnmn, were, as might be expected, very persistent and warm ; though the. Governor, from bis running in the Antnmn Handicap, had a number of friends. The race was a grand one from start to finish, ultimately concluding by so close a win for the Antnmn Handicap winner with Natator, that it was thought to bo a dead beat. Mr Stndholmo’s fiat, however, was that Lady Emma won, and thus Sir Hercules Robinson scored the double event.

The Easter Handicap, a sweepstakes of 5 sovs each, with 100 sovs added, for three-year-olds and upwards, the second horse to save his stake. One mile. Prospero cut out the running, with the Governor aecond, Lady Emma third, Natator fonth, Hilda fifth, Bandwick lost. In this order they ran to the turn, the Governor improving his position as they came on. As they came down the straight, Lady Emma began to come away, with Natator and the Governor close up. the latter was under the whip at the rails, I ady Emma and Natator were neck and nock, and so raced to the post, where the Autumn Handicap winner just managed to get in by a nose, the Governor a short half length off. Time, Imin. 45seo For the Soiling Bace, six saddled np, of which Billingsgate and Bandwick were made favorites. Old Fishhook had a few backers, os also had Mr Ecdwcod’s colt Norseman. Bandwick was first to show in front, with Frailty. Billingsgate, Fishhook, Norseman, and Coldstream in the order named. After abeut a couple of hundred yards hud been gone, Frailty shot out with a clear two lengths lead. Fishhook lying second, Bandwick third. Billingsgate fourth, and the rest in rear. At the turn Frailty had evidently shot her bolt, and Billingsgate came on full of running, with old Fishhook close in attendance, and oldstream third. It was plain to bo seen us they came within the rails that Billingsgate, bar accidents, was the winner, and Mr Waiters’ colt landed the stake by a short length from old Fishhook, ('oldstream a length and a half in roar.
