NELSON, April 4. Suspense. A telegram from Oollingwood reports that it is supposed that two men, named Robert Bisgrove and “ Yankee” Smith, were drowned in Salisbury Crook on the sth instant. A constable is out searching. TIMARU, April 10. Another Suspicious FireTwo large stacks of oats, the property of Mr Richard Hornbrouk, residing at Orari, wose burnt down last night under very suspicious circumstances. The police are making enquiries. These fires are becoming very common in the district. DUNEDIN, April 13. FireThe shop of Mr A. Lawson, Kaikorai, has been burned down ; insured in the National for £l7O. Criminal. Thomas Fisher, for indecent assault, has been sentenced to nine months. The Judge refused Mr Stout’s application in Hard’s case for an appeal. The Court sentenced prisoner to twelve months. Charles Fowler, convicted of stealing from a dwelling, has been sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.
