The captain of a whaling vessel which •lrrived in San Francisco recently, claims to have made on extraordinary discovery in Alaska. While sailing up a river after salmon he accidentally found a mountain so very rich with silver that he believes it will assay several thousand dollars to the ton. It is said that an expedition is being fitted out at Oakland, Oal., to take possession of the mountain.
