THE LATE MR RICHARD BLACKWOOD.

The London correspondent of the “ Argue ” gives the following particulars concerning the death of Mr Richard Blackwood, which took place on board the s.s. Protos the day after her arrival:—“lt seeme that Mr Blackwood's medical adviser had some time ago warned him to abstain from everything of an exciting character, and had informed him that his heart had become to some extent diseased. No immediate anxiety was however felt, and on the morning of his death Mr Blackwood seemed in unwonted good spirits, and started with his three eons for the London Dock to inspect the froxen meat on board the Frotos, it being the day after that steamer arrived. On the deck of the steamer, while surrounded by friends, with whom he wos Joking goodhumouredly, he quite suddenly sank on to hie knees, and without speaking or even groaning, he rolled over on his side and expired. No inquest was deemed necessary, as his medical man certified to the cause of death, and the body was removed to bis residence in the Cornwall road. The funeral took place on Thursday, January 26th, at the Bromptoa Cemetery, at X p.m., and was attended by a. great many Australians resident in London, amongst them being Messrs Sturt, Spero, Denisloun Wood, Miles, Pa<arson, Wagner, J. Ware, Inglis, Russell, and Ormond.”
