PROPOSED COLONIAL EXHIBITION IN LONDON.

Mr E. E. N. Twopenny has addressed the following letter to the “South Australian Register,” suggesting the formation of an exhibition of Australian products in London :—“Sir, —Towards the close of the Paris Exhibition I mooted tho desirability of conveying the whole of the contents of the Australian courts to London, and exhibiting them there in a separate building for about, three months. Shortly afterwards it seemed probable that o Colonial Museum would be established, and consequently I found it useless to urge my smaller scheme. No one will deny that, in spite of the Sydney and Melbourne Exhibitions, there is yet plenty of ignorance about Australia in tho old country. An interest has certti oly been excited, but there is yet ample room tor fuller and more perfect knowledge. Would it not be well for us to strike tho iron while it is hot, and supplement the costly ezhibi bitions of European products in Sydney and Melbourne by the comparatively inexpensive and plainly far more remunerative exhibition of Australian products in London ? Tho nucleus of a suitable Australian exhibition is ready to hand in tho courts of the various colonies at Melbourne. It would cost, little to supplement the existing collection, and send over to England a representative display, lb would not be difficult to find a suitable placo for exhibition, and if the undertaking were official, and held at the joint expense of the colonial Governments, there is little doubt that it would excite a great deal of interest, and be visited by a number of people, not only from London, but throughout England. I have no time at present to go into the details of tho scheme, but meanwhile I may point out that such an Exhibition would form an excellent startingpoint for Mr Henry Taylor’s excellent recommendations. The products, having served their purpose in London, could, at tho close ot the Exhibition, be easily distributed according to his idea.”
