LITTLE RIVER RACES. The stewards of tho nbovo were favored with beautiful flno weather and a very fair attendance on the occasion of their anumvl meeting yesterday, which this year was hold in a paddock opposite Olphort’a Hotel, Little River, instead of on the old course at Wascoe’s. Tho present course is about a mile round, and could be made an excellent one. It was, however, yesterday rather rough in many places. Tho arrangements wore good. The PariMutuel, under tho auspices of Messrs Hobbs and Goodwin, was moderately patronised, and Mr 01phort gave every satisfaction ns caterer. Details of the various events are appended ; Handicap Hukdlu Race, of 15 sovs. Distance. 2 miles. Mr T. Shoenan’s b g Shark (by Day and Martin), aged, 12st ... (Owner) 1 Mr T. Barrett’s br m Levant, list 01b, (G. Rowlands) 2 Mr G. Robinson's ch g Kaiapoi, 10at 51b, (Baird) 3 Levant wont off with tho lead, followed by Shark. Kaiapoi lust. They ran thus for abont a mile and a quarter, whoa Shark went up and raced Levant to the last turn, when tho veteran came away and won by a length and a-half. Venture also ran. Parnell was the favorite in the totalisator. Victim had the best of a rather indifferent start, made the running throughout, and won easily by four lengths, Parnell being about the samo distance ahead of Sundown. Venture was never in the hunt.

They ran thus until tho last half mile, when Qneon of Tramps came on full of running, and won easily ; Mac, who materially improved his position towards tho finish, a moderate second. Wairewa Handicap of 20 sovs; two miles. Mr Barker’s ch g Dick, by Bantam, aged, fist 51b (Mitchell) 1 Mr Bennett's br m Levant, aged, 9st 21b (Rowlands) 2 Mr J. Mountain Maid was scratched. Levant cut out tho work at a good pace, followed by Dick and Fugitive. They ran thus for over a mile, when Dick went to the front, and improving the pace, had the other two beaten at the last turn, coming in an easy winner by three lengths; Fugitive, who was never prominent, was not persevered with. Pdrlican's Purse, handicap of 10 sovs. One mile and a half.

Shadbolfc's b m Malvina, aged; 9st klb (Howlands) 3 Mountain Maid (9st 31b), Dick (7st 51b), and Sunbeam (6st 51b), also ran. The lot got well away to a nice start. Sunbeam cutting oat the work at a merry pace for tho first half mile, when he fell back in favor of Malvina and Victim, who, closely attended by Bine Gum, led to the straight. Here Victim gradually came up and won the best race of the day by a length from Blue Gum, who was about the same distance ahead of Malvina, the rest being close up. AUCKLAND AUTUMN MEETING.
