At the wool sales to day, 7500 bales were offered, and the tone of the market remained firm. PARIS, March 23. Frightful Loss of Life. The opera house at Nice was totally destroyed by fire to-night. Tho conflagration broke out during a performance, and nearly one hundred persons perished in the flames. ATHENS, March 23. The Greek Question. M. Conmouudouros, the Premier, made a speech to-day dealing with the presentnegotiations for the settlement of tho fromisp difficulty with Turkey. In the course of his remarks he expressed thei opinion that though there was every possibility that Greece would he compelled to go to war to enforce her rights, an outbreak of hostilities with Turkey was not inevitable, and might ho avoided by negotiation. CAPETOWN, March 22. The War. The Royal Commission of Inquiry into affairs in the Transvaal will be composed of the following members ; —Sir Hercules Robinson, Sir Evelyn Wood, and Sir John do Yilliors, Chief Justice of Cape Colony. They will proceed without delay to Heidelberg in the Transvaal, and will there hold the Commission.
