Haidicapper— P. Digby. Treasurer—Jos. Judge. _ A very pleasant meeting came iff as Tai Tapu yesterday, on the grounds of Mr J. Murray, who again kindly placed his paddock at the disposal of the committee The day was very fine, and there was a far larger attendance than last year, Mr Mao Alpine's four-in-hand bringing up a fair Chriatchnrch contingent. The various officials carried out their dnties most assiduously. There were all sorts of games on the course, and the Pari Mntuel of luesers Hobbs and Goodwin did a very fair business. Mr Judge gave every satisfaction as usual as caterer, and Meßsrs Wetherby and Co. represented the majesty of the law. The racing was very good. Uetaila sre appended. Maiden Plat» of sjvs, 1. milea, for district horses. A stone above weight I for age. Mr T. Patrick was scratched. The lot got well away together, Blue Jacket and Grasshopper cutting out, the two falling back several lengths as they passed the stand. When half the distance had been covered, the Polish hero went up, and racing Grasshopper to the turn drew away and won a good race by about a length, Grasshopper boating Mara aboutr the same distance for second pUca. County Hurdle Back of eovs, with a cup presented by the Crown Brewery Company added, abont 2 miles. A stone above weight for age. Mr J. Judge's br g Brown Boy (by Blue . Boy), 4yrs, lOst (T. Sheenan) 1 Mr Masefield'a b g Parnell, 6yrs, iOet 41b (G. Eowland) 2 The betting in the totalisntor was all in favor of Parnell. Kosciusko, Tawera and Mars were scratched: Parnell led for the first mile, when Brown Boy went up, and - drawing grad >ally away, won eventually by two length.. Botb horses jumped in good form. Tai Taptj Ctjp, handicap of 20 sovs, open, abont 2 miles.

Shark and Fugitive were most supported. Tawera and Kosciusko were scratched, Butcher Boy cut out the w rk for about a mile and a qaarter, when his bolt was shot, when Mountain Maid led to the last turn. Here Shark came to the front, and being joined by Fugitive a clinking good race ensued, resulting in Shark winning by a nose. A protest was entered by S. Powell, the owner of Fugitive, against Sheenun on the ground of a jostle. This was subsequently disallowed by the stewards. Farmers' Plate of sovs, about 1£ miles, open to district and county. Mars (lOat) nnd Parnell (lOat 31b) also ran. Blue Gum made nearly all the running, and eventually won easily by two lengths from Black Pino. Tawfra was third. . The other two were never formidable.

Stella kept on with the lead for almost a mils and a half, when Beer Tax, who had been ridden with much judgment by his owner, went up, and cutting down the; rest before they came to tho turn, won easily by two lengths from Stella, >T(raig Diomedea a moderate third. V LAii' ■ Trotting Race of 5 bovs, open, about 3 '. miles. Handicap behind scratch; , For this event only three went to the post, Mr Powell's Jack being an absentee. Mr Grant's'Jack was made a strong favorite, but it was a close thing between him and Dick, the favorite only winning by about half-a-length. The time was very alow, and had Dick been marie more u?e of he would probably have won. County Handicap Flat Race of 20 sovs, 2 miles. Mr T. Sheenan's b g Shark (by Day and Martin), aged, lOst 101 b ... (Owner) 1 Mr J. Brown's b m Mountain Maid, aged, list (Brown) 2 Brown Boy (9at 61b) and Kaspar II (Bst 121 b) also ran. Kasper 11. was first awoy, but the others soon closed with him, and the four ran pretty close together for the first mile or more. Shark and Mountain Maid then left the other two, and came on together to the turn, when the old horse came away, and won pretty easily by a couple of lengths.
