E=q«., J.PV] DRUNKENNESS.—Johanna Gallagher, alias ■Connor, described as a habitual drunkard, who had many previous oonviofiop* recorded against her, was sentenced to six months' imprisonment, with hard labor. A woman, for a first offence, recoived a caution and was dismissed. William Fowlor wasoharged wilh lunacy from drunkenness. He had been to Ljtti'lton gaol for medical treatment, and being now recovered, was discharged with a reprimand.

[Before J. Nugent Wood, E?q , R.M ] Selling Liquob on Sundays.—Fred. Bashford, licensee of the Heathoote Valley, was charged with a breach of the Publiohouse Ordinanoe, 1866, olause 24, in having •old liquor on Sunday, February 6th, to others than bona Jlde travellers. Mr Louijhrey appeared for defendant. Maurice Fiavoll was called in support of the charge, but he seemed to have lost all recollection, if he every had any knowledge, of the circumstances of the case. He said he might have been at the Valley on Sunday ; he did not know what Sunday, and then again it might have been on a Saturday night. Ho knew he hod boon in town one Saturday night some five or six weeks ago, and also that he had ?ono to the Valley and got u drink at Baahord'a, but he know nothing about the date. Three other witnesses who were similarly forgetful, did not throw any moro light on the subject. The case was dismissed. Civil Cabeb.—Wobb v Kerr, £2O 10a. Plaintiff as assignee of the book debts in the estate of Sorenson, sued far the above amount for groceries, &o , delivered. Defendant denied owing the money, but books, invoices, reoeipta, &3, proving otherwise, being produced, judgment was given for plaintiff for £l7 10> lOd, and costs. Martin v Andrews and Oleminshaw v Stephenson were adjourned till March 30th; Robinson r Jennings, till April 6th.
