At the wool sales to-day -4000 hales were catalogued. Prices generally ruled from 10 to 15 per cent, higher. March 21. Polynesian. It has transpired that Sir Arthur Gordon and Commodore Wilson have communicated with the Secretary of State for the Colonies regarding the report of the Intercolonial Conference on the subject of the South Sea Island massacres, and the powers of the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. Their letters reply warmly to the comments of the report, which Commodore Wilson characterises as a scurrilous libel. Tha Irish Land Bill. In the House of Commons to-day, the Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone announced that It would make his Budget statement on the 4th proximo, nnd that he would introduce his Irish Land Bill on the following Thursday, the 7th. He j further stated that the House would adjourn for the Easter recess on the Bth April.
