Tho Marlborough, a ship favorably known in Jfew Zealand waters in consequence of the many fast passages she has made from homo, arrived yesterday after an nnnsnally long passage for her of ninety-six days. She was otf tho Heads on Thursday night, and the Harbor Board's steamer wont oat to tow her Into port, but through a misapprehension on the part of Captain Anderson of the ship, her services wore not accepted. Tho ship has arrived in excellent order, a credit to her commander and his officers. Tho voyage is summarised by Captain Anderson in tho following report) —“We loft London on the 12th of Decernher, and parted with our pilot on tho 17th off Plymouth. Passed Madeira on tho 30th, and crossed the Lino in 29 deg. West on the 20th of January. The N.B. trades wore very light. Took tho S.E. trades as far as tho 30th parallel on the 31st of January, and passed tho Capo in 43 deg. S. on tho 15th of February, and tho Crozet Islands on the 31st. The weather was very quiet all down tho Easting, so much so that tho royals were never taken In from the Cape to tho Lewin. Made tho Snares at daylight on Tuesday, and reported at Cape Saunders on Wednesday at noon. On tho 18th February, in tho Southern Ocean, at about mid-forenoon, tho cabin boy got overboard. A life bnoy was thrown to him while a boat was being cleared. Arthur Fuller, an apprentice, thinking the boy conld not swim, hastily cast off his boots, and gallantly jumped in to his rescue. The weather was fine at the time, and the ship going abont five or six knots. The ship having been bronght aback, tho pinnace was lowered, and qniokly picked np both Fuller and tho boy. Tho latter had bold of tho life buoy. Fuller belongs to Dnnedin, and this is his first voyage at sea. There can b> no doubt bnt ho risked his own life in attempting to save tho hoy’s, for the boat might have been too late in getting to them. It was a brave act, and deserves the highest praise." The Marlborough was entered at tho Customs by her ogout, Mr John Inglis, immediately upon arrival, and will ho berthed the first thing this morning. She is advertised to follow the Lady Jocelyn in Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co. and Albion Shipping Company’s lino for London. AKAEOA SHIPPING. Arrived —March 16. Oreti, s.s., from Lyttelton. March 17.
