LICENSING COURT.

CHRIS TOHUROH. 1 Wednesday, Makch 16. [Before Messrs J. Nugent Wood (chairman), E. J. 8. Harman, and G. L. Leo, commissioners.J NEW LICENSES. Henry Evans applied for a hotel license for premises partly erected at Templeton. Mr Button, for applicant, produced a plan of proposed alterations, which, when made, would, he said, make the bouse very suitable for the business. He also produced a memorial, signed by about thirty residents of Templeton, recommending applicant for the license he sought. Mr Thomas, on behalf of other residents, opposed the application on the ground that another licensed house was not required. Mr Stringer applied for permission to transfer the licence held by George Simmonds at the George and the Dragon, Great South road, to new premises to be built at Templeton, Mr Thomas opposed, and both applications were refused. Mr Thomas applied for a Hcsnce for J. Boot to sell wine and beer at hie refreshment rooms in Colombo street. Mr McOonnel and Mr Stringer opposed. The Commissioners wore of opinion that there were licences enough already for places in that neighborhood, and refused to give another to Mr Boot. Elijah Gadd applied for a wine and beer license for premises at Hillsborough; it was refused, Mr Button appeared for applicant. XBANSFEBS. The following were granted:—J. Boot to P. Boot, wine and beer refreshment rooms, High street; M. Hansman to J. A. Hansman, Feathers Hotel, Addington; W. H. Kiddey to Augustus Hardeoke, Golden Fleece Hotel, Colombo street; T. H. W, Parsons to J. McNamara, Gladstone Hotel, Durham street. The above was the whole of the business.
