MAIL NOTICES.
Mails close at the Chief Post Office for the following places (subject to the necessary alterations) as under SATURDAY, MARCH 12. For Northern Ports, per Hawea, at 7.30 P ‘ m ‘ TUESDAY, MARCH 15. For Otago and Australian colonies, per Arawata, at 1.40 p.m. ; late fee letters, at 2 p.m.; guard’s van, 2.30 pm. train. SATURDAY, MARCH 26. For United Kingdom via San Francisco. Note.—The next mail for the United Kingdom, via Brindisi, &c. (only specially addressed correspondence), and for India, China, &0., will close at Christchurch on Wednesday next, 16th March, for despatch to Melbourne per s.s. Arawata, as under :—Ordinary letters, at 7 a.m.; books and newspapers at 6 a.m ; registered letters at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, 15th. ; money orders at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, 15th. Late fee letters may be posted in the travelling Post-office van attached to the express train on Wednesday, ICth. SYDNEY J. DICE, Chief Postmaster
