[press association telegram.] NELSON, March 8. Match 16 is just completed. The Wanganui Rifles take first place, with 410 points ; the Waimea Rifles second place, with 435 ; and the Nelson City Rifles third place, with 432. The scores of the wincing team were —Foster, 93 ; Armstrong, 90 ; Hughes, 88 ; Remington and Nutsford, each 85. Eleven teams entered for this event, and their order on the list after the three first already telegraphed are —Blenheim Rifles and Stoke Rifles, cash 428 ; Wellington City Rifles, 427 ; North Dunedin Rifles, 416 ; Westland Rifles, 418 ; Nelson City Rifles, second team, 418 ; Spring Creek Rifles, 409 ; Thames Scottish, 400. Match 17.—The ICarbine Company’s match is just completed, the first team of Wellington Navals securing first place with a total of 457. The lhames Navals and the Alexandria Cavalry tie for second place with 431, and they will have to fire off. The names of the winning team are :—A. Dixon, 94 ; C. France, 93 ; F. France, 91; H. Dixon, 90 ; Davy, 89. The scores for the Thames Navals are Gooden, 93 ; Parslow and Armstrong, each 92; Thomas, 86; Cameron, 71. _ Those of the Alexandria Cavalry, Wanganni, are: —D. Thurston, 92; Perry, 88; Laird, 87 ; Pommerv lle, 85; Stitt, 82. In match 17, the tie between the Thames Navals and Alexandria Cavalry for second place was fired off this afternoon, when the latter beat their opponents by two points, the Cavalry making 101, and the Navals 99. After the first three the teams took the following order—Wellington Navals, second team, composed of W. R. Bennett, Lovers, Ingle, Taylor and Tandy, 424 ; Nelson Artillery, 421, Match 14—Rifle Company’s trophy was won by Hoskins of the Taranaki Rifles with 69, Paynter. Stoke, second with 68; Pnrnoll, Wanganui, third, 67. The other scores were—Weir'(Thames).Turner (Blenheim), Burr (Wellington), 66; Wilcocks i (Clutha). Sutton (Marlboro), Wratt (Waimea), ; each 65; Hooper (Auckland), 64 ; Hay (Auckland), 63 ; Harding (Oamam), 61 ; Lander (In- , glowood Rangers), 60 ; A. Ballinger (Wellingi ton), Hutchinson (North Dunedin), each 59 : ‘ Sampson (Westland), Webster (Dunedin), each 57; Ellis (Nelson), 56; Remington (Wanganui), 1 52 ; Kitchen (Patea), 52. This event brought the meeting to a close, with the exception of the carbine match North v South, which will come off to-morrow morning. The prizes will bo distributed to-morrow afternoon in town.
