NEW ZEALAND RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

At a meeting of the executive committee lent night in camp it was decided to recommend the council of the association to reduce the total prize money for the carbine matches by about one-third, eo that the totil should bear the same proportion to the number of carbine competitors, as the amount of the prizi money for rifle matches to the number of competitors in that class. Ibis decision was posted on the notice-board this morning, and caused great disratisfaction amongst the carbine men, who held a meeting and determined to protest against the alteration of the published programme, on the strength of which they Had entered, it being also understood that the association was in ample funds to carry out the promises. This protest has been telegraphed to the council, which meets to-night in Wellington. The twenty-throe highest scorers in the first match are Griffiths, Grossman, each 74; Payntsr, VVeymiss, Wilkinson, Hughes, Ross, each 73 j Dixon, A. Sampson, Adams, Ricketts, Smith, McKenzie, Rogers, Ballinger, Lieut. Somerville, Parelow, each 72 j Chadwick, Payne, Gray, .Anderson, H. Wimsett. Ellis, each 71.
