[eetttee’s telegeams.] LONDON, February 25. The Markets Consols aro 901. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, 49a 6d. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,220,000 quarters. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 345; New Zealand flour, ex ship, 455; Australian tallow, best beef, 345; best mutton, 375; best Australian leather, 11-Jd per lb. WoolAt the wool sale to-day 8700 bales were offered, but the tone showed no improvement. Fleece and scoured wools aro now fully l£d lower than last sales. Cape Matters. In the House of Commons, to-day, the Right Hon. M. E. Grant-Duff, Undersecretary for the Colonies, in reply to a question, said that the negociations which have been proceeding between the Cape forces and the Basntos, for a complete cessation of hostilities, had failed. At the same time he said that the Governmeat regretted the severity of the terms of peace which had been proposed by the Capo Government. February 26. Wool. At to-day’s auction, 7100 bales wore catalogued, making a total of 87,800 offered since the opening. There was a fair demand. Passing of Coercion Bill. In the House of Commons to-day, the Irish Coercion Bill came under final consideration, and was read a third time and passed. 1 !
CAPETOWN, February 25. The War. Telegrams are to hand to-day from Sir George Colley announcing that he has commenced a parley with the leaders of the Boer forces, with "a view to an underlet Hiding being arrived at, and a cessation of war thus brought absut. Information has been received from the Orange Free State that the Volksraad has passed an address expressing sympathy with the Transvaal Boors, and hoping that England will comply with any reasonable demand which they make. February 2G. The nows comes to hand from Natal thas a report has reached there that the Boors had made an attack on Wakkor-
afcoom, and succeeded in capturing it, but were eventually driven out by the British troops, who are now again in occupation. The nows requires confirmation. BERLIN, February 25. Eoyal MarriageThe marriage of Prince William of Prussia, eldest son of the Crown Prince of Germany, with the Princess Augusta Victoria of Augustenberg, Princess of Schleswig-Holstein, was celebrated here to-day. Their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh, uncles of the bridegroom, wore present at the ceremony, which was one of great brilliancy. CONSTANTINOPLE, February 26. Frontier QuestionActive negotiations are still proceeding hero between the Ambassador of the Powers and of the Porto, with a view to bringing about an understanding between Turkey and Greece on the frontier question.
