MAGISTRATES’ COURTS.
CHBISTOHUBOH. Wednesday, February 23, [Before J. Nugent Woad, Esq., R.M., J. Ollivier, and J. E. Parker, Esqs., J.P ’s.] Civil Oases. —Miller v Travers; claim, £67. In this case, which had been adjourned on two or three previous occasions, the Oourt now gave judgment for‘plaintiff with costs. Mr Izard appeared for plaintiff. Mr Fereday, for defendant, gave notice of appeal. Executors Stewart v Patten, £2B 6s Bd, for tress supplied and planted at the residence of defendant, Bakaia Gorge. Mr Holmes for plaintiffs; Mr Perceval for defendant. The work had been done some two years ago, and the only evidence for plaintiffs was that found in the books of the late Mr Stewart. Defendant stated that many of the trees had failed, and there had been a tacit agreement with Mr Stewart that the whole charge was not to be made. After hearing his evidence, judgment was given for plaintiff for £6 19j 6d and costs. Executors of Stewart v Walker, £3l 3s; judgment by default. MoTaggart v Crabtree, £69 16s; judgment by default. Bogina v Marsden was adjourned till March 2nd. An application for a rehearing in Kinloy v Steggall was allowed to stand over till March 2nd, Thursday, February 24. [Before B. Westenra, S. Hewlings, and H. Inman, Esqs., J.P.’s.] Drunkenness.—John Gibson, for being drunk and disorderly, was fined 20s, or fortyeight hours’ imprisonment. Forgery and Uttering of ah Obdbr for Goods.—S. W. Palmer, late storekeeper of Malvern, was brought up charged with obtaining, by an order to which the forged name of W. B. Makings was attached, 2 tins lollies, 2 cases oranges, 251bs mixtures, and 1 esse of plums, from F. C. Dunning, of Christchurch. On the application of the police a remand was granted till March 2nd. Bail was allowed, prisoner in £2OO, and two sureties of £IOO each. LYTTELTON. Friday, February 24, [Before W. Donald and J. T.
