CRICKET.

ELEVEN v. FIFTEEN.

This match was continued on Saturday last. On the previous occasion the Eleven, with one man short, made 183, and on this occasion took the field. The Fifteen were not successful in their venture. Seoretao retired early, and several others who were expected to score failed to realise the hopes of their companions. Hanmer made two good hits for 4 and 5, but a fine breakback from Fuller defeated him soon afterwards. Moares received a nasty hit on the knee, which necessitated a mou to run for him. After playing carefully for 12, Harman ran him out. Ollivier put together 16 quickly, but found cover-point in the wrong place for him, Harman played steadily for 16, when he was well stumped by Powke. Millton was bowled by Fuller after making the same number, 16. Of tho rest little need be said, the last wicket falling for 112, The Eleven commenced their second innings, and at call of time Hartland was not out for a wellplayed contribution of 35, the score showing 68 for the loss of three wickets. The Eleven fielded well, and Fuller, who varied his pace frequently, bowled with success. Tho following is tho score ;

CHRISTCHURCH CLUB v SYDENHAM. This match was played on the ground of the former on Saturday last, and proved a win for Sydenham by 64 runs on the first innings. The ground was in a most dangerous state, several nasty bruises being the result. Tho Christchurch Club made no stand whatever against the bowling of Carlton, Lawrence alone scoring double figures, the whole team collapsing for 23 runs. Tho Sydenham team evidently enjoyed the ground, and gave a deal of trouble to the opposing bowler*. W. Round headed the list with 28, W. H. Smith coming next with 23 (not out) to hi* credit, both scores being made by steady play. The total reached 87. Wheatley, Fisher, and Washer were tho most successful bowlers for the Christchurch Club. M. 0.0.0. r. CHRIST’S COLLEGE. On Saturday these two clubs met for the second time. On the first occasion tho College inflicted a severe defeat on their opponents, but now the position was reversed. The match being confined to one day was decided on the first innings, in favor of the Midland by 21 runs, and had the game been played out tho boys would in all probability have suffered a much severer defeat, as six of their wickets had fallen in the second inning* for 38. The fielding and bowling on both sides was good, tho M.0.C.0. in particular showing a marked improvement in tho former branch of tho game. The following were the scores

The scores were—M.C.C.O. 71 and 74, 8.A.0.0. 63 and 15 for seven wickets.
