COMMERCIAL.
The Customs duties collected at Christchurch «n Thursday, February 17th, were as follows i—Spirits, £9B 6a Id ; tobacco, .£lsl 4s 6d ; wine, £46 4a; sugar, £ll 13a 4d ; tea, £44 3s ; goods by weight, £39 16s 8d; ad valorem, £6 12s. Total, £407 4s lid.
THE ENGLISH MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following telegram, dated London, February 16th : Wool—The sales opened on 15th inst., and comprised about 280,000 bales, of which 28,000 were sent to the manufacturing districts direct. The following decline has taken place since close of last sales—Combing washed, Idperlb.; scoured. Id to lid per lb. ; medium and inferior greasy, Id to Id per lb, ; crossbred combing washed. Id per lb. ; greasy, Id per lb.
COMMERCIAL TELEGRAMS. Auckland, February 18, The price of timber bos been raised la to Is 6d per 100 fest. Floor has a downward tendency. Stocks of oats are heavy, and prices are easier in consequence.
