CANTERBURY COLLEGE.
A special meeting of the Board of Governors was held at 3 p.m. Present —Mr Win. Montgomery (chairman), Messrs. Webb, Foreday, Veel, Inglis, Malet, Bowen, Tancred, Stevens, H. P. Lance, and the Primate, The Chairman nuid this was a special meeting called to consider the tenders for the homestead at the Agricultural School. The report of the Agricultural School committee was road as follows : 1. The committee recommends the Board to accept the tender of H. Taylor for the erection of the additions to the homestead buildings at Lincoln, at a cost of—No. 1 tender, .CG7B9 10a ; No. 2 tender, £'J97 Os. 2. The committee recommends that the chairman bo authorised to endeavour to obtain the Governor’s sanction to a further loan of ,£IO,OOO. 3. Tho committee recommends the Board to authorise tho committee to call for and accept tenders for building three cottages, at a cost not exceeding .£OOO. The first clause was passed, on the motion of the Chairman seconded by Mr Malet. On clause 2, Mr Stevens said that the Board bod a very good case to go to the Qo-
vernmsnt to csk for thoir ianction to raise this loan.
On the mition of the Chairman, it wai reso'ved that clause 2 be adopted. On clause 3, the Chairman said that the director found that ho could not accommodate the pupils coming forward, and the oomruitt.ee therefore asked power to erect these cottages. The resolution approving of the recommendation having been carried, the Board adjourned.
