Fulton, of Blenheim, for flax; Edward Sheedy, of Dunedin, for hams and bacon. SYDNEY, February 9. Harbour Defences. The Government have announced that a sum of £6OOO will be spent in completing the torpedo defence of Sydney harbor. Stress of Weather. The barque, John Knox, which sailed from this port yesterday for Lyttelton, put back to-day for repair, having met with a heavy sea, and suffered serious injury to her bulwarks. SYDNEY, February 10. New South Wales Finance. The Hon. John Watson, Colonial Treasurer, introduced his financial statement in the Legislative Assembly last night. He estimates the revenue for this year at £5,440,000, and the expenditure at £5,232,000. No material changes are proposed in the estimates of expenditure, except a reduction of one-third in the immigration vote. Mr Watson announced that the railways of the colony are paying 4J- per cent, on the capital sunk in the construction. He disclaimed any intention on the part of the Government to raise a new loan in the London market at present, but stated that a loan for £600,000 might possibly be issued in the colony at an early date.
