HEATHCOTE ROAD BOARD.

The above Board met on Friday last at 10 a.m. Present—Messrs F. Jones (chairman), T. Bruce, J. O’Neill, and G. Dryden. Mr Jones apologised for the absence of Mr Attwood. The clerk reported the receipts to be £ls 10s lOd. Re Tramway Company, deferred till next meeting, the chairman to see some of the directors in the meantime. Re division of district into wards. A map with the proposed divisions was laid on the table. The consideration was deferred till next meeting. The following correspondence was read and dealt with; —Mr M. Murphy, asking for six weeks’ extension of time to finish South Opawa roads. The question to be referred to Mr Coster. Messrs W. Watson and F. Pavitt, re inspection of bridges during erection. Receipt to be acknowledged. Mr T. York, enclosing receipt for purchase of land from Mr Rennie. The clerk was instructed to prepare the transfer. Mr J. H. Hopkins, enclosing agreement re widening Cemetery road. To be returned for other signatures, stamping, and attesting. Spreydon Road Board, enclosing account for half of £lB6 18s Bd, cost of keeping Colombo road from Piper’s road to Colombo bridge in repair for twelve months. To be referred back for explanations. It was resolved that for the future the Board will maintain one-half of the Boundary road between the Spreydon and this district. Mr Dryden proposed, Mr O’Neill seconded—“ That the hour of receiving tenders be altered to 9 a.m. on the morning the Board meets, instead of 6 p.m. the previous day.” Lost by the casting vote of the chairman. On the motion of Mr O’Neill, seconded by Mr Dryden, the tenders of Mr B. Round for smith’s work and of Austin, Kirk and Co., Limited, for drain pipes were accepted. And on the motion of Mr Bruce, seconded by Mr Dryden, the tenders of 0. O’Malley for footpath and J. Frisk for metal at Sumner were accepted. After passing accounts for £327 7s, the Board adjourned.
