MAGISTRATES' COURTS.
OHRISTOHUROH. Tuesday, Jantjaby 25. [Before J. Ollivier, J. B. Parker, and R. Westenra, E«qrs., J.P.'s.j Dbtoxdhubbs.—For a first offence a man was fined ss. Crvii. Cases. —Bashford v Columbus, £3 lis 6d, goods snpplied ; defendant disputed his liability, but brought no evidence in support of his statement; judgment for plaintiff for full amount and costs. Barnes v Poolo, £4 12s 6d, for wages; judgment for £1 6s and costs. Hutchinson v Smith, claim £l3 ; the sum of £7 12s had been tendered by defendant, the balance was the ar- ant really in dispute; Mr Turnbull appeared for plaintiff, Mr Thompson for defendant; plaintiff had been employed to arrange the affairs of the dofendont for a lump sum; a claim for a further sum for extras was, however made, and certified by the inspectors in defendant's estate as being correct and to be allowed out of the estate; this claim defendant refused to pay; tho certificate of tha inspectors having been put in, the Bench said is the face of that, the claim oould not be disputed ; judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed, with costs and the u-sual solicitor's fee. Judgment weut by default for plaintiffs, with costs :—Weedon v Gay, £1 Is 9d ; Patten v Cook,.£B 10s ; Mulligan v O'Donnell, £2 14s 7d ; some v Murphy, £6 10* ; Innes v Gay, 18s Od ; City Council v Geo, £1 ss; samo v Marks, 10s; Taylor v Fitzhenry, £3 15s lid ; same v Pepper, lis 9d ; same v Reynolds, £2 12s 4d ; Hubbard v Smith, £2 13s ; Walker and Co. v Clark, £1 16s fid; and Fisher v Askew, £9 2s 7d. Judgment was for plaintiff in Terrel v Wykes, £1 17s 6d. Williamson v Folton was adjourned till February Ist.
