[betjteb's telegrams.] MELBOURNE, January 22. A Fatal MishapA terrible explosion of lithofracteur occurred last evening at the New Chum Mine, Sandhurst. Seven men were injured, five of them very severely. PedestrianismThe walking match for £SO aside, between Baker and Swan of New Zealand, was concluded to-night. Baker completed 1031 miles, and Swan 103 and two laps. The latter collapsed in the last mile. MELBOURNE. January 24. Obituary. The " Argus" to-day announces the death in London of Mr Richard Blackwood, of the firm of McMeckan, Blackwood and Co. S.S- STorfolk. The '■Argus" also announces that Messrs Money Wigram's steamship Norfolk will again proceed from London to New Zealand direct, making Lyttelton ber destination. ADELAIDE, January 22. Arrived —The Orient Company's steamship John Elder, from Plymouth.
