TRIAL OF GRASS SEED STRIPPERS.
The grass aeed stripping machines which were exhibited at the late metropolitan show by Messrs Scott Bros, and P. and j). Duncan were subjected to the usual fl.di trial before awarding the prizes, at a fart belonging to Messrs Henderson and Mcßeath, on the Middle Biccarton read, yesterday. The judges were Messrs J. Osborne and J. W. Sawlo. The ground selected was well suited for the trial, but the season was rather far advanced. The udgos handed in the following decisions: —!• “We are of opinion that, in consequence of Messrs Scott’s machine being larger, it is capable of doing more work in a given time than Messrs P. and D. Duncan’s machine. 2. We consider that the raising and lowering apparatus of Duncan’s machine is more perfect than that of Scott’s, and in the case of an uneven crop would probably gather more seed in a given time than Scott’s machine, 3. That, starting both machines together under the same conditions, we are of opinion that the machines would collect an equal quantity of seed off an equal quantity of ground. 4. We are therefore of opinion that the honors should bo divided.”
