Wesleyan ConferenceThe Wesleyan Conference, in its eighth annual session, opened last night. There were twenty-six members present. The retiring president, Bsv. R. Lee, delivered an address referring to the progress made in the past year, and the business before the meeting being for the election of officers, was then proceeded with. The Bov. J. B. Eichardson, of St. Alban’s, wan elected president by a large majority. The first ballot for secretory was between the Revs. W. Morley and B. Bavins. At the former’s request the latter was elected. The Eev. H. J. Williams being appointed assistant secretary. Eev. T. Q. Carr journal secretary, and the Bov. G. Bond corresponding secretary. The newly-elected president was then inducted, and delivered an address. Cordial votes of thanks were passed to the retiring president, and to secretary Bev. Buddie. Secretary Morley,[and others, addressed the meeting, and Bev. Mr Buller, recently returned from England, was cordially welcomed and gave an interesting account of his home experience. Divorce. The issues in the Auckland divorce case, Hoadly v Hedley and Anderson, were heard before the Chief Justice to-day. The jury found the adultery proved, and that there had been no connivance, condonation, cruelty or desertion and gave damages for £350. DUNEDIN, January 21. Methodism. The annual district meeting of the Primilive Methodist Church of New Zealand commenced this morning. There were present tbirty-one delegates from the various stations. The Bev„ Josiah Ward was unanimously elected president, and Mr T. Perkins, of Invercargill, vice-president. The business of the day was confined to receiving returns of the respective stations.
