Professions do not predispose to suicide, but instruction does. No naan tills himself because of bis trade, but a good many men kill themselves because of their knowledge. Not only has the revival of suicide almost exactly coincided in time with the modern extension of schooling, but suicide is now moat abundant in the very regions in which schooling is most expanded.
